Hi there everyone!
We are so excited to finally introduce . . . *drum roll please* . . . Daisy!
This sweet little Jersey cow joined our family at the Villa about a month ago and we couldn’t be more pleased. She has the sweetest temper and loves being scratched behind the ears. Benjamin even rides Daisy around the pasture! The goats are still trying to get accustomed to her. . . Poor thing. She just wants to play and doesn’t realize she’s over twice their size!
But we didn’t just get her because she’s cute – though that is some of it. Starting in 2021 we hope to be able to host cheese making retreats out at the farm. How fun will that be? We’ll be able to spend a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city and join with friends and soon to be friends to learn the art of cheese making.
So What Is A Jersey Cow?
Jersey cows are very highly sought after in the milk world for their high quality milk – and their high production! On top of that, they are known for their gentle temperament and loving nature. Quite a bit smaller than your average cow, they are a little easier to handle and are thus pretty common on small hobby farms and homesteads.
Not only this – but they are just gorgeous animals! Am I right??
